Lobster Roll 2015 #14

The Beach Plum
North Hampton, NH
8/22/15

Buttered 6 oz....
I think they measured this one wrong as I just wanted a little taste but think I got more than that for sure. Meat was tasty and mouth watering.  Buttered roll is not common in NH but for us Connecticut folk, we still love our lobster simple with a little touch of butter.  Well practically no butter was needed for this succulent gem.  I have definitely had my fill for the weekend.  This one makes 5, I think I may not eat for a few days...
Thanks New Hampshire, for saving this spot for the way out.
Overall 8.8

Lobster Roll 2015 #13

The Beach Plum
North Hampton, NH
8/22/15

There are 6 diff sizes of rolls.  Three normal and three foot longs.  I opted for the larger of the regular rolls (10oz).  Bun was perfect.  Not too much mayo at all contrary to some reviews.  Perfect amount of meat.  Nice and sweet.  Claws were a little overdone but the rest of the meat was cooked well. Chowder was tasty and naturally thickened.

No line, rainy day visit and beachside view of the ocean. Service was friendly and fast.  78 flavors of ice cream alongside good food.  Can't ask for much more (except maybe fries and a bathroom).
Now I think I will try a buttered got roll.

Overall yummy

Lobster Roll 2015 #12

Warrens
Kittery, ME
8/22/15

After I have tasted some of the best lobster rolls in New England, it is so hard to try new places that are the talk of the town.

Bun was perfect, amount was plentiful, however the taste was almost bland.  Lobster of Maine is expected to be the best and sweetest.  Disappointment here tonight especially for the high cost of $33 for the roll alone.  Plus side was the lobster rangoons were pretty tasty.

Overall rating: 8.4 (portion size points).

Lobster Roll 2015 #11

The Shack
Kittery Maine

Tasty, just the right amount for lunch.  Perfect split open bun.  Mayo and celery.  Not much to say but it hit the spot unexpectedly.
Overall rating 8.6

Lobster Roll 2015 #10

Geno's Chowder and Sandwiches
Portsmouth, NH
8/21/15

The ambience was definitely a plus.  Sitting on the harbor in Portsmouth was a perfect setting for some lobster.  Portion (jumbo) was plentiful.  Roll was perfect sliced open roll.  I opted for a local style mayo roll which was definitely tasty and fresh.  Lettuce was nice and crisp as I bit into the large portions of knuckles and claw.  The staff was very sweet, accommodating our large party of 15 with mainly children and sharing some family history with us, including their family friendship with the Bush family.  As fresh as it was I still felt I was missing something.
Overall rating: 8.7 (portion size was a plus)

Lobster Roll 2015 #9

Guilford Mooring
Guilford, CT
8/9/15

Well... my husband, who kindly supports my lobster roll blogging, thought I should have another for the day as I looked a little hungry. So, even though I just finished one, I had to go for it. Well number 1, the fries were good. (Not the first thing you want to hear when the focus should be lobster).  Okay seriously number 1, the roll was, a potato roll, not ideal for lobster and a little soggy as it wasn't toasted but it was ok.  The meat was fresh but it needed a little lemon, which right there says it wasn't as fresh as it could have been.  Overall it was good. 7.9

Lobster Roll 2015 #6

House of Bones BBQ
Derby, CT
7/21/15

On the way back to the office from a successful client meeting, my boss and I decided to stop for some lunch.  Well when in proximity of a lobster roll, I must eat a lobster roll.

While my boss grabbed some tasty looking bbq, I opted for the double rolls, which were two split top buns somewhat filled with lobster meat.

Taste was ok, however after I ate most of the first roll, I realized there was some mold on my bread. I couldn't believe it.  So I politely and quietly brought the remaining roll to the counter and showed the cashier.  She apologized while embarrassed and then handed me two fresh lobster rolls.  My appetite had weakened at this point so I decided to bring them back to the office.  I gave one to some of our office staff to share and ate most of the 2nd.   The lobster was decent, however, the mold kind of put me out for that day.  I know it can happen anywhere - but u should definitely check the food before serving.
Overall rating - 7.6

Lobster Roll 2015 #8

Guilford Lobster Pound
Guilford, CT
8/9/15

Last minute stop for a yummy lobster roll... Just the right amount of meat.  Perfectly toasted, buttered bun. No lemon but it wasn't needed.  Lobster was fresh and tasty but left me a little hungry. Scenery was beautiful, on a pier with lobster boats and cages...
Overall rating: 8.6

Lobster Roll 2015 #5

Country Corner Family Restaurant, Bethany, CT

Lobster roll 6/12/15
Who would have thought that a diner like restaurant would have a good roll.

Perfect bun, butter and lemon on the side to add to your liking. Nice red meat and a good portion. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste.  The service was fabulous, such a nice family restaurant.

Will definitely stop by again at least for the waffles they were telling us about.
Overall: 7.8, the service probably added some tenths. (Too early in the season for high ratings).

Lobster Roll 2015 #4

Random Drive In, Monroe/Newtown, CT
They told me it wasn't real, they were right but I couldn't resist.

Eh at least it wasn't too expensive or far away.
Shouldn't even post it but I ate it so I have to.

Lobster Roll 2015 #3

7Seas, Milford CT
lobster roll 3/27/15
Hmm where do I begin.  Lent on a Friday and a lobster roll made the day.  First I will start by saying we walked in with a large party of 12 to seat. Waitstaff kindly said it would be about 35 - 45 minutes which was fine because we were waiting for the rest of our group.  The restaurant was packed.  Tables were ready and we made ourselves at home.  Menu had plenty to choose from.  I started with some New England Clam Chowder. Chowder was pretty good. Then onto the business at hand.  My roll (single, there was a double too) arrived pleasantly presented.  Bun - split top, almost perfectly toasted, just the right amount of butter. Lots of nice chunky red meat. Tips of the Claws were just a little over done. I added a touch of freshly squeezed lemon over the top.  Very tasty good roll.  Definitely a new favorite in CT.  Price was pretty high for CT but considering the season, quantity and the quality, it was reasonable at $19 for the single. Great dinner with great friends.
Overall 8.4 (it's early in the year).

Lobster Roll 2015 will #3 satisfy?

This is my first pre'roll entry, and it's making my mouth water already just thinking about it.

Yes I am finally planning on my 3rd roll of the year.  As I dream about some of the best tail I had last year, there are some local names making their way to my "to try" list.

Today alone, 7 friends (during a facebook poll) mentioned "Seven Seas" as a spot I should try this weekend.

So the plan has been made and my cravings have begun.  I am looking forward to a seafood feast including at least one 'roll.

Hope the 'Seas live up to the reviews.

Lobster Roll 2015 #2

1/21/15
Glenwood Drive In, Hamden, CT
Quantity was plenty and not skimped on, freshness was fair, a little heavy on the butter which made the roll a little soggy on the underside.  There was just enough sweetness to satisfy my craving, plus it was expensed through work after a good meeting.
Overall rating: 7.9 (it's a new year with a lot of good places to visit).

Lobster Roll 2015 #1

New Year - New Lobster
1/1/15
Home cooked, Derby CT
Thanks to my hubby, who ate less lobster on New Year's Eve, I was able to savor the flavor again on the first of the year.
New Year's leftovers made a tasty treat.  Not my best homemade but still a great start to the year. Claws were a little dry but bun was perfectly toasted and buttered just right.
Overall 7.7 (a little over cooked)
